POSITION PURPOSE:
To oversee the maintenance of electrical, utilities, and instrumentation equipment at the APDL plant, including high-voltage equipment, various electrical controls, instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, process control systems, and other electrical/electronic equipment. The jobholder also serves as the primary contact for the plant with the service providers/manufacturers of electrical, instrument, and process control systems equipment repairs.

Key Roles / Duties
Supervision
1. Oversee assigned projects on the electrical and instrumentation aspects and ensure contractor compliance with timeline and budget parameters.
2. Provide technical direction and guidance to operational staff, assists with troubleshooting problems, evaluates alternative solutions and authorizes appropriate courses of action to maximize operational effectiveness
3. Assist the Head of Engineering with the development of specifications for electrical equipment purchases. This includes providing input on the design of new electrical equipment, initiating requisitions for supplies, parts, and materials, and regularly communicating with various vendors and operations and engineering personnel regarding equipment specifications and purchases.
4. Ensure compliance with the agreed design, technical, regulatory, and manufacturer requirements. Effectively managing changing circumstances and responding to conflicting priorities to ensure the best possible service is delivered at all times.
5. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, safety trainings, and job-specific trainings.
6. Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of accountability, and ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan, including management and reporting.
7. Manage, coach and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
Process control
1. Develops and implements process improvement projects through brainstorming with the team for ideas that can solve problems, improve efficiency, reduce cost and improve safety
2. Design and implement preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance schedules and activities related to instrumentation and automation
3. Develop and continuously review electrical and instrumentation procedures and processes that support electrical and instrumentation maintenance standards and strategic objectives for the plant in line with legislation and best practices.
4. Maintain critical electrical & instrumentation spares Handling of all GMP-related documentation effectively, including SOP preparation/revisions, change controls, deviations, and CAPA.
5. Participates in the development and implementation of the annual budget for equipment expenditures and contract services and monitors budget expenses throughout the year and provides improvement recommendations through the Head of Engineering.
6. Initiate, implement and maintain the PLC programs through planned and prevention maintenance
7. Promote and drive the maintenance program using asset management techniques, including scheduling, assigning, and supervising the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
8. Oversee the troubleshooting and repairs of electrical, electronics, and instrumentation equipment across the plant.

1. Ensure that any other duty assigned by the HOD is executed to management expectations.
AUTHORITIES
Operate water treatment plant equipment
Perform chemical cleaning of the plant and maintain it in good working conditions
To weigh and issue correct quantity of materials to clean room and do balance calibration in dispensing area.
Do raw materials requisition from the stores and give its accountability.
Manufacturing of product batches
Verification of cleanliness of clean room and proper gowning of cleanroom personnel
Monitoring of manufacturing process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a very closely related discipline.
At least 5 years’ experience in instrumentation and electronics engineering in a manufacturing or similar industry environment.
Experience or exposure to the Pharma industry is an added advantage
